In a town that boasts the world’s greatest horseman competition, San Angelo is also home to The Grill, a restaurant with rave reviews over its all-American cuisine with a Mexican flair. The Grill, owned by Virginia Dalbeck-Armenta and her husband Felipe is the go-to spot for steak and Mexican food. Chef Dalbeck-Armenta is known for her masterful salads and chicken enchilada plate. She reached national acclaim when she appeared as a contestant on Hell’s Kitchen Season 2. This may also explain the large, open kitchen, similar to the show, where patrons can enjoy the view of the chefs in action.
Gordon Ramsey, the host of Hell’s Kitchen noted that Chef Dalbeck-Armenta, has obtained a priceless talent for creativity with a great palate. The Grill is modest and consistent with its Texas surroundings yet its cuisine incorporates the freshest of ingredients and above-par chef skillfulness. The Grill is also famous for their in-house ground burgers served on homemade breads, baked fresh daily and grade “choice” or better steaks grilled over mesquite wood.
